German Beer Stein with Monks and Adage

$20.00
Quantity available: 1

My father in law was drafted and sent to West Germany shortly after my husband was born in 1956. His mother sold her piano to make the trip to join him, and arrived to base housing in Schweinfurt. They brought home a large collection of German made steins, far more than we have room for, and so are passing on these little bits of history.

This chubby stein is 5" tall (7 with lid) and 2.25" across the top. It features monks drinking and the phrase "bier ist gesund in jeder stund hopfen u. malz gott erhalt's" which translates to "Beer is healthy every hour, hops and malt, God save it". It has no chips or cracks, and is stamped Germany on the bottom with the numbers 9,4, and some bits of red and black paint.
