Set 12 Antique Royal Worcester Dinner Plates Dated 1892

Unavailable

Included here are twelve dinner plates by Royal Worcester which date from 1892, and which feature a cream colored ground decorated with enamel flowers and gilding. They were created for Richard Briggs of Boston MA. Included are four with violet flowers, four with yellow flowers and four with pale pink flowers. They measure 11" in diameter and are in excellent condition, with no cracks, repairs or visible cracks. There is some wear to the gilding in spots, particularly along the inner edge of the ring of gilding which decorates the center. The cream colored ground is also worn in spots in the centers of many of the plates, revealing the undecorated white color of the porcelain. This type of wear is more easily seen in one of our closeup images, and more difficult to see in the larger images of each plate. The use of flash and increased exposure compensation tended to bring out the colored enamel decoration, but washed out the cream color of the ground.
