Simmons Keen Kutter Tool Box / Chest w/ Logo

$80.00
Quantity available: 1

This is a nice clean early 1900's tool box with the KEEN KUTTER logo on the top lid! We don't see these very often, considered rare. The price guide claims these bring $450-$550 in original condition with labels and paperwork, but without the tools. This one is not in original condition in that it was painted brown inside and out sometime in the last 100 years. It should have an original KK padlock, and also an inside label, but otherwise, it is in good condition, very clean, and solid. As you can see there is a few tiny blocks of wood missing in some of the corner joints, and I assume that happened due to the type of joint and wood used, plus being 100 years old. The box is solid however, both top and bottom. It has the original brass plaque type label on the top marked "E.C. SIMMONS KEEN KUTTER ST. LOUIS U.S.A." on it, and the original latch is there but the part of it that wrapped around the top is missing, still holding well, and can be padlocked. This inside partitions are in place, and solid mounted. The hinges appear to be original. The box is 27.5" x 9" x 4.6" overall, and has two brass handles added to the sides that extent the length a bit more than 27". A nice rare early 1900's tool chest overall!
