Simmons Lathing Hatchet Keen Kutter

Unavailable

This is a quality made 13" long handle lathing hatchet marked "E.C. SIMMONS KEEN KUTTER CUTLERY" plus the KEEN KUTTER logo on one side of the head. The 2.25" wide cutting edge is sharp, very thin at the cutting edge, like the razor blade of hatchets. The hammer end is in good shape with only minor wear noted, most of the cross hatch desing pattern intact, some pitting noted. The handle appears to be a newer replacement as it is marked "CRAFTSMAN" on a sticker on the handle, in very good condition with the steel type wedge, (very snug to the head), well fitted. Overall condition is good++ useable, with minor pitting over the entire head, with the exception of the cutting edgs which is smooth and sharp, with no rust. It not beat up, very few scratches or dings. Most likely from 1920's, still in very usable condition overall!
