My father in law was drafted and sent to West Germany shortly after my husband was born in 1956. His mother sold her piano to make the trip to join him, and arrived to base housing in Schweinfurt. They brought home a large collection of German made steins, far more than we have room for, and so are passing on these little bits of history. 

This tapered stein is 5" tall (7" including lid) and 2.25" wide at the top and features a scene of a man and woman with a dog and stag. It is marked with the German proverb "Gerste mit Hopfen gibt gute Tropfen" which translates to "Barley with hops produce great beer-drops". It has no chips or cracks, and is stamped GERMANY on the bottom
