Audels Carpenters & Builders Guide Set 1936

$85.00

This is a clean set of Audels with a complete set of 4 volumes all are first editions and marked copyright in 1923.  Volumes 2-4 are first edition 2nd printing which is marked "REPRINTED IN 1936" in those three volumes, volume 1 was printed in 1923. One of my favorite reference book sets for information on building and carpentry technics from the 1920's. The 1st volume is very good for information on tools of that days and how to care for them. Each book is 5" x 6.7" has a black leather like pressed cloth semi soft boards, gold gilt spine lettering and page edges. All are in good to very good condition, covers are clean, spines are tight, minor creases on spines from opening books fully. Some wear noted on the gold gilt page edges, and volume one has the most wear along the edges of the spine and covers, and inside some page edges have humidity stains and creases page corners near the front mostly, plus on the blank first page we note a past owner's name in ink.  For the most part the pages on all volumes are clean, some very minor yellowing around the edges of the pages, but only in a few places beyond what was already mentioned. Good tight bindings, some minor wear on the gold writing on the spines (Mostly on Volume 1).
A nice set of books covering tools, steel square, cutting tools, saw sharpening, nails, screws, joinery, furniture, math, drawings, estimating, house and roof framing, layout, foundations, doors, windows, stair building, millwork, painting, etc. Lots of good information.
