Unusual Meersham Sterling Modernist bracelet bangle

What an unusual sterling and Meershaum bracelet this is. I got it this way from a pipe collector and it really struck me as so really bizarre I had to have it. Meershaum is sometimes found floating on the Black Sea and rather suggestive of sea-foam, whence the German origin of the name as well as the French name for the same substance, écume de mer. This bearded gent sits securely on a sterling ( signed) odd shaped hinged bangle. The width of this is 3/4" at its widest and it measures 6 1/2" on the inside. THe hinge and clasp work well and it has a newer safety clasp.
