Authentic antique over 100 years old European sword Rapier most likely of the French origin with tapering two –stage steel blade ,the upper portion of flattened – hexagonal section engraved illegibly on the edge of ricasso with brief inscription ,with a short fuller on the respective sides flanked by two full length slender fullers.
Steel hilt comprising cup – guard pierced with a series of slots a pair of straight long quillons swelling towards the notched terminals matching the knuckle –guard urn shaped pommel, and grip finely bound with plaited steel wire with a steel collar top and bottom.
CONDITION: The Blade and steel hilt slightly pitted.
MEASUREMENTS: Overall length: 113 cm (44 1/2inches).Length of the blade: 93.4 cm (36 3/4 inches).
