Venus Italica Marble Statue After Antonio Canova

Unavailable

Our antique Italian marble statue of Venus Italica after the original by Antonio Canova (1757-1822) measures 34 x 10 x 10 in (86 x 25 x 25 cm) and is in good condition.  There are small chip losses, particularly around the circumference of the bottom edge, scratches, some discoloration in spots, all consistent with age.

The original, completed in 1802, was commissioned by Napoleon to replace Venus de Medici statue, a copy of the original work by Cleomenes of Athens.
