The company originally manufactured mens jewellery, and started making women's jewellery in the 1930s. On early solid gold items Krementz items mark can be identified by the gold content (e.g 14K) and an impressed shirt stud mark. In the 1950s, the Krementz hallmark changed from block lettering to script. Their gold plated cufflinks are of high standard (with a 14K gold overlay). The Colibri Group purchased the company in 1997, and continues to produce jewellery with the Krementz name. The onslaught of costume jewelry in the Art Deco period and the Depression, however, brought certain death for many companies that continued to concentrate on karat gold. Krementz cagily moved into gold overlay and electroplated jewelry and grew strong enough to buy many of the failing Newark companies. Acquisitions not only expanded Krementz’s gold jewelry and overlay business, but also added new lines. Gemstone and high-end jewelry came along with the purchase of Jones & Woodland in 1938; wedding and engagement rings were added with the acquisition of Abelson & Braun in 1940. Krementz also added the Diana by Krementz line of 10k and 14k gold jewelry and a line of plain gold wedding bands around this time. ∆ Material: gold filled metal, abalone ∆ Size: see photo ∆ Weight: light ∆ Condition: In good vintage pre-owned condition. ∆ Lovely patina!
