This unique brooch  from the 1920'ss is the most unique gift you can give someone who loves the exotic. Probably one of a kind. Cleopatra would be so jealous! Two Vultures protect this jade center stone .One tiny seed pearl is the adornment above the stone and two glass paste stones of red and green are on the wings. This looks like it might be solid bronze ( I don't think it is brass) and it measures almost  2 3/4" long. This has its original C clasp and pin. Lovely dark patina really sets off the rich colored stones of this Sun Disk ( This symbol represents the horizon from which the sun emerged and disappeared) . Beautiful raised relief forms the designs of the wings and these majestic vultures. This dates no later than the 1920's and would have been from the Grand tour during the Art deco period. 

The Egyptian Revival was resurrected in the 1920s, with the discovery of King Tut's tomb. Many pieces of jewelry were produced during this time period, most notably are Pharaoh's heads, Queen Nefertiti, scarabs, winged sun disks, snakes, lotus blossoms, hieroglyphic writing and pyramids. The jewelry was made in precious metals like gold, platinum and silver as well as pieces made of lesser compositions of brass, white metal, pewter and glass. Most of these pieces were further enhanced with polychrome enameling, precious and semi precious stones, glass and celluloid. grand tour included  Europe, Asia and the Middle East. People traveled all over the world and brought back souvenirs that are now VERY collectible.
