Vintage PLIQUE-A-JOUR gilt Sterling Deco Butterfly and little baby BROOCH

 

From the 20's comes this beautiful hand wrought butterfly that has a teeny tiny little one at the top. Plique-a-jor is made to look like stained glass that you can see thru and it is a very hard and time consuming technique. This is over 80 years old and the Plique=a -jor is not only still intact but as brilliant in color as the day it was made. This butterfly would have been hand wired and dipped in gilt. THe golden yellow really brings out the turquoise color in the wings. This measures 1" wide and is in very good condition. People are using these not only on their clothes and hats, but also on their curtains and plants.
