Vintage Ratchet Screwdriver Ball Handle & Hex Tips
This is a very unique ball (slight oblongated shape) type handle ratchet screwdriver with a set of like new slot hex bit, plastic wrapped into the original packaging. The original packaging says that this driver (though much like other brands) is actually made by "OXWALL ATLAS HARDWARE". Using the screwdriver: For clockwise ratchet driving, the shaft goes into the red end, counter-clockwise in the white end of the ball handle. (I left the driver and bit in the packaging although I was able to test the unit since the back side of the cardboard has not plastic covering the handle, so I could spin it.) It works great, and is a lot tougher than it appears. It is actually very nicely made, and the tips are very good quality tips also! It measures 6.25" long assembled, with no tip in the hex end, and the ball is about 2.0" diameter (not quite a ball shape as the handle is about 2.75" long. My guess it that it was made in the U.S.A. since most tools from the 1960's and 70's era were marked with the other country that they were manufactured in if they were sold here in the U.S.A.. There is no cracks on the tool, very clean, no rust, very nice, useable, vintage collectible tool overall! We note some slight discoloration on the white surface of the handle, this may wash off. Another fearture worth mentioning is the fine ratchet system, the user barely turns this driver and it locks into the next ratchet tool. One reason these were popular back then! Where can you find another one? I think this screwdriver was marketed here in the U.S.A. around the same time as the so called Screwball screwdriver.
