Antique sterling Peruzzi Necklace vinaigrette Heart Locket Grotesque Masks Extra long 37" Silver Chatelaine victorian Cherub Lion links

The grotesque Roman masks on this fabulous long sterling necklace were used to scare away the bad spirits, and the cherubs were used to protect the and the Firenze lions were used to keep the wearer safe and free from harm. At the end of this amazingly long 37" sterling necklace is a large filigree sterling heart locket/ pomander or vinaigrette. Scents that were placed on cotton were put inside so the wearer could smell heavenly and to keep the strong aroma of the streets from penetrating their delicate nostrils. The links on this fabulous old chain are made of florettes that are long and short. Total weight is 64 grams and this was tested as silver since it was not marked and confirmed. The chain has 2 cherubs ( both different and hand wrought), 2 firenze Lions with fleur de lis above them and two of the grotesque masks. The necklace and the heart are in great condition.:Unsigned.
