Mulberry (purple) transfer-ware plate pair with an romantic fantasy castle scene, circa 1840. Measure 8 7/8"d. No maker's mark other than an impressed cipher and a number, but the border pattern matches the Adams "Cyrene" pattern on a popular replacements site, though the center design is different.. Scalloped rim. First plate in good condition, second with only a hairline crack to the rim, that does not show on the front side. Sold as is, and as a pair.
