Mulberry (purple) transfer-ware plate pair with an romantic fantasy castle scene, circa 1840. Measure 8 7/8"d. No maker's mark other than an impressed cipher and a number. Smooth rim. First plate in good condition, second with a large chip to the backside rim and a hairline crack, that does not show on the front side. Still display nicely. Sold as is, and as a pair.
