Ambrotype photograph of a portrait painting of an elderly woman, circa 1854-66. These were made as a family keepsake for a member who had already passed, or was unable to sit for a lengthy photo session. Leather case, separated at the spine. Size is known as a sixth, or 1/6th plate, measuring 2.75" x 3.25". Has not been cleaned. Sold as is. Inglenook Antiques...Established 1989.
