Aesthetic style platter with openwork handles, made by Franz Mehlem of Bonn, Germany. Dates from around 1880. Hand painted flowers over stencil with gold trim. Measures 13.5" x 8" x 2.625"h. Impressed and painted marks "84/2943/5000/17". Has some gold loss, a shallow chip to one handle, and 2 chips to the foot rim, but no cracks. Sold as is. More photos available.
