Antique Nippon (Japan) Sumida Gawa brush wash, or salt dip, from the 1890s to early 1900s.  Single figure on end, completely hand-painted in blue, black & cream glazes over a flat red base color.  No mark.  These pieces were made mostly for the export market, and likely carried a paper label originally.  Measures 3.5"l x 2.25"w x 1.5"h.  No chips or cracks, only some wear to the base paint, as expected for it's age, and a small glaze skip.  Sold as is.  Inglenook Antiques...Established 1989.
