Vintage Marcasite Chrysoprase art deco hanging locket brooch

 

Used to carry a loved ones photos or even a lock of hair, these brooches when originally  made were treasured and passed on to family members as keepsakes. This one has bautiful open metal work in an overlay with a marcasite center. It is made in layers so it really has quite an effect on the eye. The top bar brooch has a faceted chrysoprase in the center.Chrysoprase has so many wonderful qualities that it has become one of my favorite stones. It calms over excitement, takes the heat out of situations, and inspires tolerance. It is also used for Spiritual protection. This vintage inspired brooch measures 1 7/8" x 1 1/2" long. I don't think it has ever been worn.
