A portrait of Pope Pius X, the 257th Pope of the Catholic Church, serving from 1903 to 1914, from the design by George Cartlidge. This photographic tile was made by Sherwin & Cotton in 1904; is intaglio carved and relief molded, and is covered in a rich and beautiful deep cocoa- brown glaze. The tile is in excellent condition.
